O Eric, δημιουργός του iSlsk - το οποίο παρεπιπτόντως είναι σχεδόν έτοιμο και θα κυκλοφορήσει σε λίγες ημέρες (!!), ανέπτυξε ακόμη μία καταπληκτική εφαρμογή: το PwnPlayer!



Όπως δηλώνει ο Eric (αποδίδοντας φόρο τιμής στο Pwnage της Dev Team), το PwnPlayer είναι ένας media player αποκλειστικά σχεδιασμένος για Jailbroken iPhone, ο οποίος έχει σκοπό να αντικαταστήσει πλήρως τον default media player του iPhone!

Μερικά από τα χαρακτηριστικά του PwnPlayer είναι:

- File system playback: Simply drag&drop your mp3 files using your favorite file browsing app (WinSCP, CureFTP, CyberDuck or iPhoneBrowser) or download them using iSlsk or any other music download app!

- Music Library compatibility: You can still keep using iTunes.

- Search: Search for song/artist/album/file (works both with music library and file system songs).

- Lock-Screen gesture controls: Control your PwnPlayer by swiping your finger on the lock screen, for easy handling from your pocket! (Φοβερό feature! Δείτε το video που ακολουθεί και θα καταλάβετε το γιατί…)

- CoverFlow: It works only with iTunes library for now.

- Background mode

- SpringBoard integration: PwnPlayer automatically integrates with SpringBoard. You will see the current playing song info in your lock screen, and you’ll be able to use the home double-tap shortcut to control music playback when you are in another app while PwnPlayer is running on background.

- Playlist managing: Create, edit, and remove playlists on the fly easily.

All the above will be available on its first release. Future updates will include:

- Plug-ins: Yes, if the aforementioned wasn’t enough, you will still be able to add more and more features to PwnPlayer thru it’s plug in system. Or even make your own plugins and distribute them! support for more formats, Lyrics viewer, a Last.FM scrobbler, streaming.. imagine what could be done, and that you will never see on default MobileMusicPlayer.

- Video: Currently PwnPlayer does not support video playback, but it’s one of its top priorities for future updates.

- Support for genius playlists?: I still don’t know how difficult will be to support this new feature introduced in 2.1 firmware, but yes, it might be available in future updates as well.

- Move music files between file system and music library back and forth?: well, I already said this is not available now because the new iTunesDB security checksums have not been cracked yet.. but if someday they finnally get fully reverse engineered, this will be completely possible.

Θα αντικαταστήσει το υπάρχον player ή είναι μία ακόμα εφαρμογή?..
Πολύ ίδιο το είδα με το ipod του iphone και μου φάνηκε για addon..

Μια και τα λέμε.. Της παναγιάς τα μάτια έχουνε βγάλει.. ούτε που τα φανταζότανε κανένας αυτά που βλέπεις σε appstore και cydia.. Αλλά..

παντως απο τα καλυτερα αυτής της εφαρμογης ειναι το drag & drop και το Search.αυτη ειναι η γνωμη μου.

- PwnPlayer will now run in background automatically if play button is pressed either from the lock screen or the home double-tap shortcut
- Artwork is now displayed in the lock screen
- Fixed Lock-screen bug where the song title wasn't removed if the user exited the application
- Added "clear playlist" button
- Added a version checker to let users know when a new version of the app is available
- Changed lock-screen controls behaviour: double-tap is now required to play/pause. This change was made to avoid accidental touches (specially when handling from pocket)
- Fixed bug when trying to shuffle songs from filesystem while on a folder without any files
- Fixed bug when playing a previously saved playlist, where it has been seen as overwritten if you selected one album from CoverFlow
- Fixed SpringBoard crash when trying to use the lock-screen controls after "Music" button has been pressed from the home double-tap shorcut while using another application and PwnPlayer was running in background.
- Much smoother scrolling on Music Library, File System and Playlist screens (and will continue to be improved)
- Added album tracking in CoverFlow (it will jump directly to the current playing album whenever CF is activated or the album changes)
- Fixed home double-tap "Music" button, it didn't work when used while being in another application e.g. Safari

Known issues

- Sometimes artist, album or song title labels on the playback screen (where you see the artwork, playback controls, etc) are not displayed. They get hidden somehow or only their grey shadow is displayed. This is completely harmless and can be easily fixed by changing the song.
- Sometimes when the app was running in background and it got resumed, the whole screen blinks repeatedly or everything is seen black. This is completely harmless and can be easily fixed by tapping the home button and resuming PwnPlayer again.
- Sometimes songs finish a few seconds early. This needs to be investigated further.
- Scrolling/reordering in playlist editing mode is a bit laggy. I also need to investigate this further.
- Search feature has been reported to crash the app *VERY RANDOMLY*. This will be also investigated further
- Artwork on the album list is shown with "bad quality/pixelated". I haven't yet found the method apple uses to display the tiny artwork thumbnail, which is already resized and stored in a cache, instead I have to resize it myself (which is the reason why there's a delay to display them)
